Everyone can be affected by small pimples appearing on the buttocks. Luckily, it’s not difficult to deal with them, and we’re telling you how!

Pimples on the buttocks: what are the causes?

Madonna is clear: you have to take care of your buttocks as well as your face. Yes, the singer is a fan of using her favorite face mask on her posterior. And with good reason. Put to the test (and because we rarely see them ourselves), the buttocks are often forgotten during our beauty routines. However, the constant friction of clothing tends to generate small imperfections. In winter, the phenomenon intensifies, especially when we use covering and non-breathable clothing, causing perspiration, humidity and therefore pimples which can end up becoming inflamed. This can turn into something called folliculitis. Indeed, humidity is the favorite breeding ground for bacteria which causes acne in particular. Finally, clogged pores are also the reason for the appearance of slightly grainy skin, and the buttocks are no exception.

How can you get rid of pimples on the butt?

Good hygiene, with the right products

Just like pimples on the face, the basis and first step to clear skin is cleansing. So the same goes if you have butt breakouts. Use a gentle shower product, which will respect the pH of your skin. This kind of shower gel gently cleanses and does not tighten the skin after showering. You can also use your facial cleansing gel on your buttocks, for maximum softness.

Wear soft clothing and underwear

The key to limiting or even eradicating small pimples on the buttocks that can lead to folliculitis is none other than investing in underwear made from natural materials to allow the skin to breathe. Rather than synthetic fibers, we preferably opt for organic cotton. At the same time, we do not recommend attacking your rear end with soaps that are too aggressive. The results obtained will be the opposite of those expected because, to protect itself, the skin will overreact and this will further cause the appearance of spots.

As for clothing, avoid pants that are too tight, such as jeans for example, and especially during butt breakouts. Favor fluid materials and natural fibers. The same goes for what you wear at night, especially if you're sweating. If you play sports, shower quickly after the session and change completely.

Exfoliate your butt to limit pimples and scars

As skin cells renew themselves approximately every 28 days, exfoliation is always recommended to help the epidermis get rid of dead skin more easily and the cells to regenerate more quickly. If this observation is accepted for the face, it is also valid for the buttocks! But be careful, we’re not talking about just any exfoliation. Say goodbye to grainy scrubs, which are too aggressive on already inflamed skin or butt acne, even if the skin on the buttocks is thicker than the skin on the face. Opt instead for chemical exfoliation, without grains. In this type of product, these are acids (often from fruits) which gently exfoliate the skin. Over time, the skin is smoother and clearer.

Hydrate your butt

The buttocks also need hydration. After the exfoliation stage, remember to moisturize. Well hydrated and nourished skin means skin with an effective and reinforced protective barrier. This way, the buttocks will be prepared for each friction. You can use your body cream for this, or a facial moisturizer. Regarding hydration, whatever is good for your face will also be good for your butt. For the day, opt for a fluid and light texture, which will not make you sweat in your clothes (and therefore encourage pimples…). For night, you can opt for a slightly richer product.

Zinc and food supplements

If you have implemented all of these tips, but the butt acne persists, a topical zinc treatment can be added to your routine. Its antibacterial properties will help it to fight against the proliferation of bacteria responsible for acne. Zinc as a dietary supplement can also help but in this case, it is better to consult a dermatologist.
