There is a styling product for every hair type.

Wax, cream, spray, gel… Styling products are numerous and unique, as they allow different levels of hold and play on the shine and texture of the hair. So, depending on the natural thickness and length of your hair, and the desired result, you need to pick a specific product. Here’s our overview.

Wax pomade

The wax pomade comes in the form of an oily paste that gives volume to the hair. Most offer a stronger hold, which is especially suited to those who want to tame very thick hair or are looking for a slick hairstyle, like Don Draper in Mad Men. Depending on the amount of healing ingredients, the wax can more or less repair the follicles. By using it sparingly, fine hair can be well protected and gain volume. A wax is generally intended to stay in all day.

Thanks to its restorative powers, it is ideal for marking the line with a pompadour cut (layered sides and mid length hair on top), comb-over (layered sides and mid-length hair on top tacked to one side with a comb) or slicked back. It is suited to all types and lengths of hair: from dry to oily, straight or curly and frizzy. It works especially well with short to mid-length cuts.

Textures

Waxes pomades come from an emulsion with a lot of fatty substances, which gives them their paste/balm effect. Usually it includes a shiny or matt effect, depending on the product. It is generally a mix of animal waxes (such as beeswax, like “Cera Alba”), vegetable waxes (such as the wax from certain palm trees like carnauba) and / or mineral fats (like ozokerite or paraffin oil). Some need to be rubbed in the hands to heat for ten seconds before being applied to the hair.

Our wax pomade

Our version does not need to be heated between your palms – it is enough to be spread. For easy application, we have picked certain fatty substances that liquefy fast. Beeswax and carnauba wax sculpt the hair fiber and strengthen it as it is mixed in. The white kaolin clay adds to the staying power of the wax and offers a matte effect for a hairstyle held perfectly in place, with just enough flexibility. As the formula does not harden the hair, you can rework it during the day. Finally, it rinses off easily with clean water.

Cream pomade

The creme pomade can be in a smooth texture, like ours, in the form of a balm. It offers the hair a more flexible volume than wax because of less fatty substances. This is why cream pomade is especially suited to short or medium length, normal to dry, frizzy, curly hair and for those who love running their hands through their locks.

Texture

Two advantages here: ease of application, and since the hair will easily absorb the cream it is useful for dry hair and those who need hydration. For their part, finer hair would benefit from using it sparingly so as not to be weighed down.

Our cream pomade

Beeswax is what keeps the hair naturally in place. Castor oil strengthens and adds radiance. Sapote butter (taken from the seed of a Caribbean fruit) nourishes and softens the hair fiber, which in turn smoothes out the frizz which causes twisted hair. It also rinses very easily.

Texturising styling spray

This works for most types of hair, apart from very dry, as it contains alcohol – which offers a lighter hold and density. The lightness is particularly suitable for fine hair in need of volume, straight to curly, and of all lengths.

Texture

The sprays are made from water, silicones and restorative ingredients, forming an aqueous solution.

Our Texturising hair styling spray

The restorative power of our spray depends on how much product is used. Even with a heavy hand, it leaves hair soft and silky thanks to the acacia fruit extract and provitamin B5 (also known as panthenol). Moisturisers added to the formula protect hair from the drying effects of salt, which add density. The “beach effect” does not leave a wet look, but more of a fluffy drying texture – like a surfer, or your own hair by the end of a vacation. This look can be played with by twisting and creasing a few strands, with the head tilted down for more volume. It can also be added after other styling products for a grain of salt, and rinses off easily.

Gel pomade

Arguably the best known styling product, and the one you most likely remember from your youth. Usually transparent and colourless, the gel sets the hair more or less naturally depending on the ingredients.

Texture

Gels are made from carbomers, which are ingredients that make the hair appear hardened. Some products promise to be able to cut through concrete – while others guarantee an eternal wet look, as if you were walking with a rain cloud over your head. There are a variety of strengths, shines, and moisture effects, so the choice depends on your style and taste.

Our gel pomade

Our product has a shinier effect and strong hold: therefore ideal for slicked hair or a fixed side-parting. Thanks to the cottonseed oil and vegetable glycerin, it protects from dryness and leaves hair feeling soft, strong, and easily rinsed off. A product that can outlast the rest.

As you’ll expect, it’s important to choose a styling product that suits your style and the type of hair – so as not to weigh down, overgrease, or dry it out. Great hair comes with great responsibility, after all.
