After the summer holidays, your skin often looks brighter, smoother and firmer, thanks to increased sun exposure. However, it can quickly become dry and dull as your tan fades.
As the end of the summer holidays is rapidly approaching, it's not too early to start thinking about taking care of your skin upon your return. Here's how to best care for your skin before heading back to the office.
Moisturisation, an absolute must
The number one secret to preserving your skin and tan over time is to hydrate from both the inside and out, drinking plenty of water and using topical moisturisers. For the body, we recommend nourishing body lotion with a lightweight texture. For the face, your perfect ally is face moisturiser.
Exfoliation
Normally, we begin by exfoliating and then moisturising the skin, but after the warm summer months, it's more important to moisturise in order to prevent skin from peeling and ensure a longer-lasting tan. Nonetheless, exfoliation is still important after sun exposure to thin the epidermis, remove dead skin cells, and boost cell renewal. As the skin has been sensitised by the sun as well as other factors, it is best to avoid harsh, coarse-grained scrubs. We recommend using our Gentle Face Scrub, which also moisturises the skin. For your body, our Exfoliating Soap Bar will do the job perfectly well. And most importantly, remember to optimally moisturise your skin afterwards each time.
Antioxidants
It is also essential to take care of your skin from within. What you consume inevitably affects the skin, so it is highly advisable to take antioxidants both during and after the summer months. Vitamins A, C, and E, which can be taken in the form of dietary supplements, but are also found in seasonal vegetables and fruits, help limit cellular oxidation caused by sun exposure. Vitamin E, for example, is ideal for stimulating cell renewal and protecting the epidermis. And undertake a light detox programme… your skin will love you for it!
