Master the changing of the seasons.

Spring has finally started a few days ago. Sunnier days are almost here and it's time to get ready for the warmer season after months of grey weather.

Your skin's needs change with the seasons. In winter, for example, it requires deeper hydration and richer care. Similarly in spring, it’s time to make new modifications, ideally before you go out to make the most of the first days of sunshine. The season of spring can be capricious. Having to change your habits doesn't mean that the old ones were bad; it's just time to adapt by lightening your routine. Your rich winter moisturiser will (probably) have no place for your spring face. Keep reading for a short overview of our essential spring skincare tips that might help you prepare for summer too.

Hydrate lightly

In winter, it’s best to opt for a rich moisturiser since it works to regulate skin dryness that comes with cold climates. Once the good weather arrives, it could prove to be too heavy or too thick for your skin. Instead, use a lighter face cream like our moisturiser.. This cream penetrates quickly, is remarkably effective without overdoing it, and helps balance the pH of your skin. The grooming equivalent of Sergio Busquets, Barcelona midfielder, in short. Apply it every morning and your face will be hydrated throughout the day. You’ll also avoid oily skin problems like a shiny forehead which is a well-known curse of springtime.

Makeover (and keep it)

Whether it’s on your face or your body, there’s a good chance that winter has left its mark on your skin. Local dryness, dead skin, and other similar skin concerns are common. For an easy fresh start, use an exfoliant. A Guérande salt balm like the one from Ren Skincare will eliminate the dead skin that litters your body after the winter season, and give you a new look. Think of it like a snake shedding its old skin.

The same goes for your face. Unclog your pores with an exfoliating sponge and start anew. Your skin will thank you. During the springtime heat, exfoliate weekly to prevent sweat from drying out your skin from the saltiness.

Fight sweat

Sunny days bring their share of satisfaction, but also all too often arouse bad memories: that of the smell of sweat in public transport, at the office, or wherever you have to live in a community. Since you don't want the smell to disturb your fellow citizens, don't forget to apply deodorant before going out. You can never be too careful. In addition, it’ll prevent you from ruining your shirts - which you’ll soon be able to wear without a jacket - with unsightly sweat stains.

Take care of your hair

It is perfectly acceptable, during the winter, to indulge in excessive hair growth. Some men like to spend the winter with a full beard, for example. In spring, it should be shaved, or at least pruned to start on a new foot and put an end, once and for all, to the cold season. The same goes for your body hair: it’s essential to trim your hair properly as soon as the sun comes out. Avoid having hairs that protrude from a slightly open shirt. Then you'll be ready for a quick weekend getaway to the beach. To find out how to trim your body hair, read our guide on coping with body hair in the summer. Get a little ahead.

Lighten your haircare

If it’s common, as for the moisturiser, to opt for deeply hydrating hair care during the winter, then spring, a warmer but also more humid season, is often the occasion to take care of your hair more lightly. Opt for a lighter shampoo and conditioner to leave your hair flawless.

Spread the (good) ointment

Obviously the weather is nicer in the spring. However, limiting spring to just sunny days is reductive: it’s common to be surprised by an impromptu weather changes and spouts of rain. In order to be sure that your hairstyle will stay fixed no matter what complications you may encounter throughout the day, use our styling wax. Its matte effect will give your hair a natural look, and its strong hold will resist anything. You never know what a sunny day may hold for you. You can also use a texturizing styling spray, for a holiday effect that will make your colleagues jealous.

Change your smell

The idea, suggested by Dan Sablon when we asked him about his morning routine, is far too effective not to be followed. The man, who collects Dr Bronner soaps, changes his scent with the seasons: while winter obviously calls for more reassuring woody scents such as Virginia cedar and sage leaf shower gel, spring is the opportunity to use something fruitier like Italian Bergamot & Peppermint Shower Gel or an ultra-fresh scent like Peppermint & Tea Tree Shower Gel. Let your the best part of your days begin in the shower.

The same goes for your perfume: put aside the fragrances with the most body for next winter. Opt for a lighter, fresher scent instead. A fragrance will react differently depending on the temperature: what you liked in winter will probably not have the same effect with the arrival of sunny days.

Don't forget your teeth

It's spring. The weather is nice. You’re happy. Smile at life, but do it with impeccable teeth. Use fresh toothpaste.

You’re now ready to enjoy the birds chirping and the sight of the year’s first flowers blooming. Be careful though: the pollen season could come with symptoms, if you’re allergic. In case of nasal dryness due to repeated blowing, here’s an insider tip: apply a little lip balm to your nose. Thank us later.
