Some fear them, others live with them. While not everyone is affected by wrinkles equally, they do affect us all. Here is a guide to help us better understand the different types.

They are the witnesses of the passage of time. And of our lifestyle, too – named wrinkles. But where do they come from? A decrease in the dermis of collagen and elastin, which respectively supports the firmness and movement of our skin. Add to that a drop in our reserves of hyaluronic acid, the molecule capable of holding water. This helps maintain a good level of hydration in the skin, and helps it bounce back. But not all wrinkles are the same. Here, we demonstrate.

Expression Wrinkles

These are the first to appear on the face. Expression wrinkles are due to the numerous micro-tensions of different muscles – your facial expressions. Among the best known are: the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes, due to blinking eyelids, the nasolabial fold hollowed out by your smile, and the frown line, located between the eyes, and accentuated by frowning with your eyebrows. A lack of proper hydration will make them even worse. You can prevent them by nourishing and hydrating the skin daily. Hence the importance of applying a cream like our mattifying face moisturiser or our rich face moisturiser.

Dry Wrinkles

Dry wrinkles are very thin, and often found around the mouth and eyes. They signal dehydrated skin. You can prevent them with treatments containing hyaluronic acid. If they are too deep, the other solution is to smooth them over slightly with gentle and stimulating massages, like a Gua Sha, for example.

Surface wrinkles

Over time, your cell renewal slows down. The skin regenerates less efficiently and quickly. If it is not sufficiently protected from the sun’s rays, which prevent the presence of collagen and elastic, surface wrinkles appear. They are also called fine lines: deeper than dry lines. The fold formed is thicker. Ideally, you can therefore bet on UV protection, antioxidants, such as vitamin E – found in our moisturisers – and vitamin C.

Deep wrinkles

The most common are deep wrinkles. They are a result of the fracture of the dermis, due to a loss of elasticity. The skin relaxes. Mature skin has more or less, depending on the quality of the skin, the amount of hydration, but also general hygiene. Anti-aging treatments are rich in smoothing and lifting with active ingredients.

Regardless of which type of wrinkles, there is no secret: to prevent them, and delay their onset as much as possible, the only thing you can do is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, and moisturise again… Only until you feel thirsty.
