The fashion journalist extraordinaire walks us through his routine before the Givenchy show.

Pierre is 25. His wildly popular Instagram account, @PAM_BOY, home to insightful and emoji-rich reviews of fashion shows and collections, has put him in a unique position within the fashion journalism landscape. He’s taken us to Florence for Pitti Uomo, and walks us through a very special routine: the one he followed prior to attending Clare Waight Keller’s Givenchy men’s show at the Villa Palmieri.

I’m spending a week in Florence for Pitti Uomo, the most important international event for menswear, which takes place in Italy, and is known for its suit-wearing ‘Pitti peacocks’.

Like most people, I’m generally not fond of hotel-provided grooming products. It’s very important for me to keep my grooming habits, in particular during Fashion Week; I therefore brought all my favourite products with me.

I never travel anywhere without my Horace binchotan purifying face cleanser. It’s the very first step in my routine. I then use the Horace natural clay mask, which purifies my skin without drying it up. Once this is done, my skin is deeply cleansed. I follow this up with a hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 serum from The Ordinary, Canadian group Deciem’s flagship brand. I don’t think I really need to tell you that I brush my teeth at some point too, do I?

Dark skins also need sun protection. It gets sunny in Florence, very, very sunny. I care about my skin, so I use YOUTHQUAKE, Marc Jacobs Beauty’s new pineapple-based moisturiser, before protecting my face with some SPF 50 sunscreen by Avene. Better safe than sorry.

I regularly shave my neck with my Philips OneBlade electric shaver. It’s quick, easy, and efficient. I then apply the Horace kukui oil aftershave gel to soothe my skin.

For my body, I’ve become addicted to (cold-pressed) kaya body oil, by Costa Brazil, a brand launched by designer Francisco Costa. It’s light, has a subtle scent (I rarely wear perfume when it’s hot outside), and makes my skin glow.

In my pocket, I always carry a refreshing wipe. These wipes are super practical as they are individually wrapped. It came in very handy at the show’s after-party.

For the Givenchy show, I chose one of my favourite suits, a Dior one from the Hedi Slimane era, with a white Uniqlo shirt, my Sesame hat from French brand Études, and a pair of Rudy’s suede loafers. Despite the heat, I never considered wearing shorts. As stated by Tom Ford himself, a man should never wear shorts in the city. There’s nothing worse, except maybe flip-flops, which are a cardinal sin.
