Make the right choices to brighten your pale complexion!

A pink shirt alone won't do the trick every day to give you that healthy glow. In particular on a Monday in November. You nostalgically recall your most recent holiday, when you were relaxed and tanned and your coworkers, especially those who chose to spend the summer in Normandy, were green with envy.

Naturally, you look at every option , the most obvious would be to pack up and move to the tropics. Or you may take on the role of Laird Hamilton and manage a paddle club.
It's a fantastic idea, however, shipping your preferred Horace products would be ten times slower and more expensive.

Another much easier option is to use a few subtle tricks to look attractive in any situation, even during the dead of winter. We’ll explain further below.

How to maintain a healthy glow year round

It's commonly believed that eating a lot of carrots would make your skin seem healthy and glowing because they contain beta-carotene. You are not a rabbit, though!

All it takes to keep a healthy glow all year round are a few easy steps:

  • - Get enough sleep.
  • - Use a gentle face cleanser daily to refresh your skin, remove impurities and excess sebum, and add a radiant glow to your complexion.
  • - Apply a mattifying moisturiser each morning to keep skin hydrated and shine-free. In the evening, use a rich moisturiser to ensure optimal cell renewal. The AHAs it contains gently remove dead skin for a non-stop healthy glow.
  • - Once a week, exfoliating your face rather than simply cleansing it will unclog pores and eliminate dead skin for a more radiant complexion. Our face scrub is formulated with malted barley, which is packed with polyphenols, antioxidants that will infuse your skin with radiance.
  • - Exercise.
  • - Drink enough water.
  • - If needed, use an eye contour care product, which will moisturise skin and reduce dark circles by stimulating blood circulation.

Try tinted skincare

Yes, we're speaking about tinted skincare products, which are an effective solution for pale, and even washed-out looking skin.

In just a few simple steps, and most importantly, in the blink of an eye, your skin will look as if you've just come back from a sunny weekend away. At Horace, we have our Healthy Glow Fluid, a tinted fluid with a universal shade that is suitable for all skin tones. It beautifully enhances the complexion, leaving a seamless, natural and streak-free finish. After your moisturiser, apply a few drops to the face and blend with fingertips. It's easy to apply, even for beginners!

For spots and (especially) dark circles, a concealer is ideal for camouflaging all types of visible imperfections throughout the day. At Horace, we offer a concealer, available in 7 shades from very dark to very light, to hide your dark circles, whether they are permanent or simply caused by lack of sleep.

Should you use a self-tanner?

The former U.S. president with orange skin has definitely damaged the reputation of self-tanners. We can see why! He most likely chose a product with an unnatural-looking finish, and surely lacks dexterity when it comes to application techniques. If you are looking for a sun-kissed effect, opt for a natural colour and a texture that will easily blend with your skin. We recommend Self Tan Purity mist by Saint Tropez. This easy-to-apply, ultra-evanescent mist goes on evenly, gradually giving the face a lightly tanned glow over time. Apply it after your moisturiser, in order to prevent the mist from sticking to dry areas and leaving streaks.

Why avoid UV rays?

For one simple and excellent reason, because they are dangerous. Like tobacco and arsenic, tanning booths have been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a "definite human carcinogen". Even short, high-intensity exposure to UVA and UVB rays increases the risk of melanoma: it is important to note that in a tanning salon, the exposure to which your skin is subjected is greater than that during the hottest hours of summer on a Mediterranean beach. Minus the cocktails and sound of the waves, of course!

You should be able to handle the off-season with these methods. No one likes to look whiter than a ghost, we got you covered!
