Your glasses, your hair products... Here 4 reasons you might have acne and you did not suspect.
You take care of your skin, you wash your face regularly, you follow our advice... Yet you continue to frequently see pimples on your face. Dermatologist Gilberto Alvarez might know the reasons. Reasons you might not have thought of...
Your hair products don't work in your favor
If they are necessary for your mane, your hair products are not necessarily the best allies for your face. Some of the ingredients used in styling gels or waxes can clog your pores and cause acne. "It's best to avoid applying these products on your hairline advises dermatologist Gilberto Alvarez. For those products that don't usually rinse off, apply them more on the longer parts of your hair."
You can’t really read without your glasses
Do you notice small pimples above your nose wings? That’s maybe because of your glasses. Especially, their pressure on the skin. "Heavier frames can also clog the pores in this area," explains the dermatologist. If they are dirty, they can facilitate the appearance of small pimples". Admittedly, the majority of people will not have acne because of their glasses, but it is preferable to be careful and to clean them regularly.
You don't clean your face enough... Or too much...
Like many things in life, it is a matter of fair measure. If you don't wash your face with a proper cleanser, you risk the accumulation of bacteria and impurities in your pores. This quickly leads to the appearance of pimples. On the other hand, if you have a cleansing rhythm that is too important for your skin or if you use a cleanser that is too aggressive, it is possible that the cleansing agents in the products will dry out your skin and compromise your natural moisturizing barrier. We recommend using a facial cleanser that is gentle and non-irritating.
You skip the moisturising part
A common myth said that you should "dry out" your pimples. This can lead many of us to not apply moisturizer. Acne-affected areas do need to be moisturized. "A good acne routine will always include a moisturizer," says Alvarez. Especially if you use acne treatments based on benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. We recommend our matifying facial moisturizer with a fluid texture, enriched with shea butter to nourish and protect your skin. You can also opt for our rich facial moisturizer that contains AHAs from papaya (acids) that will also remove dead skin cells from your face.
