100% natural fragrance, with aptly named essential oils.

“This deodorant’s scent is amazing. It’s exactly what I expect from a deodorant, and it never gets in the way of my perfume.” These are Jeremy’s words, not ours. He’s one of the many Horace customers who have made the switch to our natural deodorant. We’ve been getting plenty of positive feedback, in particular regarding our deodorant’s scent. What you might not know however, is that the essential oils that make up this fragrance also play a crucial role in the deodorant’s effectiveness. Allow us to explain why.

Our deodorant’s scent

Our deodorant has a sage, eucalyptus and rosemary scent. It’s a fresh and woody fragrance, with aromatic notes. The deodorant is 100% natural and contains 24 different essential oils. While these oils ensure our deodorant smells so good, they also contribute to its effectiveness. Let’s have a detailed look at some of them.

Eucalyptus essential oil

This essential oil is renowned for its freshness. It helps sanitise the skin and lends its instantly recognisable aromatic notes to our deodorant’s fragrance. Quick warning, the eucalyptus tree is the koala’s food of choice. Keep that in mind if you have a visit to the zoo or Australia planned.

Clary sage essential oil

This essential oil, also found in our Virginia cedar-sage leaf shower gel, is extracted through steam distillation and is renowned for two things: its pleasant scent, and its purifying properties. Clary sage essential oil helps purify the skin while reducing sebum production. In other words, a very useful ally when it comes to preventing sweat odours, as these are due to the accumulation of bacteria in the armpits.

Rosemary essential oil

This essential oil has a purifying, sanitising, and sebum-reducing effect. Its vivifying properties also help unclog your pores, thereby keeping your armpits fresh. Rosemary essential oil also adds a few aromatic notes to our deodorant’s fragrance.

Tea tree essential oil

This essential oil is renowned for its antibacterial properties, as well as its freshness, as users of the Horace peppermint-tea tree shower gel will be able to testify. It is one of the most effective essential oils when it comes to eliminating bacteria, and the odours they create. Legend has it that Australian soldiers would use tea tree essential oil to ward off mosquitoes, quite the useful side effect, if you ask us.

Italian lemon and bergamot essential oils

These two citruses come straight from Italy and produce essential oils used mostly for their refreshing effect. And we can all agree that a fresh deodorant is much better than one that isn’t.

To put it simply, there are a variety of essential oils behind our deodorant’s scent, and they also help to keep your armpits fresh and prevent bad odours. They’re not called essential for nothing.
