Because a good perfume sometimes isn’t enough, we’ve gathered some tips to teach you how to smell good at all times, and for as long as possible.

Life is unfair, some people manage to smell good in all circumstances, whether they’ve just cycled ten kilometres to work, just got out of a Brazilian jiu-jitsu class, or even when they’ve had to skip a shower (for reasons beyond their control, obviously). Read on to learn how to become one of them (spoiler alert: a good perfume alone isn’t enough.

What you eat changes the way you smell

Your diet influences your body odour. For example, garlic and spices will not only affect the way your perspiration smells, but also change how fragrances will react on your skin. On the other hand, fruit and vegetables will ensure your body is the perfect host for any fragrance.

Similarly, overindulging in alcohol can affect the way you smell as well as the smell of your perspiration. The sugar alcohol contains, once assimilated and then rejected by the body in the form of sweat, gives off an unpleasant, pungent smell. In other words, another good reason to avoid going over the top.

Choose your deodorant with care

Perspiration odours are obviously the number one enemy when it comes to smelling good in all circumstances. Choose your deodorant carefully, and make sure you find the one that suits you best. An aluminium- and alcohol-free deodorant is better for your skin (and your shirts, since it won’t stain them). If it's effective and smells good, it's obviously even better. Lucky you, our eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils deodorant is exactly like that.

Moisturise your skin

A properly moisturised skin retains fragrance longer, thereby enabling you to smell good for longer too. Dry skin, on the other hand, will absorb the perfume much faster leading it to dissipate in no time at all. Drink a litre and a half of water every day and use a moisturiser smelling good is as simple as that.

Take care of your clothes

While this advice may seem obvious, it’s worth repeating: you can’t smell good if you don’t regularly wash your clothes with a pleasant-smelling detergent. Some people even use specific perfume for their clothes. The idea might sound strange, but it’s actually pretty brilliant.

Don’t neglect your soap

The smell of your soap is the foundation of your olfactory signature. Every morning, this is where you start. It’s therefore a good idea to choose your soap for its cleansing virtues, but also for its fragrance. There’s a wide variety of options when it comes to fragrances and atmospheres: you can choose to travel to the Italian countryside with our Italian Bergamot & Peppermint superfatted soap, or chill in the middle of a eucalyptus forest with our Peppermint & Tea Tree shower gel. Koala style. You can also escape to a refreshing and woody break with our Virginia Cedar & Tea tree soap bar.

Apply your perfume with precision...

You undoubtedly have a favourite perfume; it might even be our & Horace eau de parfum. When it comes to fragrances, habit is often a good thing. However, to make sure you always smell good, we recommend re-assessing the way you put it on. While everybody knows you should avoid going over the top, for fear of ruining the lives of every single person you come in contact with, perfume should also be applied to the right places: the hollow of your wrists, behind your ears, and on the back of your neck. Some of you might have even heard that you should apply it to your ankles and stomach. We’ll let you decide for yourself.

…and reapply it when needed

Don’t hesitate to reapply your perfume, if and when necessary. Keep in mind that the same rules of precision and precaution apply. While you may not smell your perfume on your skin once you’re accustomed to it, this does not mean that everybody else doesn’t smell it.

Don’t forget your beard

If you have a beard, washing it regularly and applying beard oil will make you smell even better, in addition to making your beard shinier and, thus, even more beautiful. One of our customers said that our beard shampoo was "incredible", while another said that our beard oil makes beard hair "smell great". Their words, not ours. You're now ready to smell better, for a better life.
