In the summer, we tend to sweat more, which makes our skin look shinier. Even the thinnest layer of cream can make it appear greasy and grimy.

Discover the ideal skincare routine that will help you look and feel fresh, while protecting your skin from the sun. During the summer months, the skin is shinier than ever, particularly when the heat makes you perspire. The key is to lightly moisturise, so that you don’t look like you are suffocating your skin with cream, which can make it look oily and dirty.

Begin your cleansing routine with a cleanser and toner for clean, fresh skin.

Dampen face with cold water, and use a dab of cleanser to remove excess sebum and impurities. This is ideal for starting your day off feeling perfectly fresh and clean.

The next step is toning. After drying your skin off with a towel, spray 3-4 pumps of Tonic Lotion onto your face and then pat it into the skin with the palms of your hands. In fact, for a more intense sensation of freshness, you can store your toning lotion in the fridge, making this step downright addictive in summer!

Choose the most suitable sun cream, which moisturises and protects all day long.

Use your favourite targeted skincare products, if any, before applying your moisturiser and sun protection. In the summer, we tend to keep our skincare routine to a minimum, particularly in the morning. And especially because the sun gives you a healthy golden glow. This means that you can skip your anti-dark circle serum, for example, and only use it in the evening, directly applying your moisturiser and sun protection.

If you have normal to oily skin, you can make do with a simple sun cream (ideally SPF50 and SPF30 minimum). This way you won’t suffocate under too many layers of skincare products. In the case of dry or normal skin, begin with a dab of mattifying face moisturiser, and allow it to penetrate for about thirty seconds, before applying your sun cream.

Among the sun creams that are easy to find at a chemist’s shop or online, Anthelios pocket SPF50+ fragrance-free sun cream by La Roche Posay offers good value for money and is ultra-light, leaving no greasy finish or white streaks! Another easy-to-find, great choice is Capital Soleil UV-Age Daily SPF50 by Vichy, which comes in a practical dispenser pump bottle and also leaves no greasy finish, no white streaks and no heavy film over the skin. If you have dry skin and tattoos that must be protected from the sun, we recommend Anthelios SPF50+ hydrating sun cream by La Roche Posay, which can be used on both face and body and doesn't leave a greasy finish or white streaks.

In the evening, we strongly recommend using a cleanser and toning lotion on your face, followed by your targeted skincare products, such as Moisturizing Eye Cream, before applying a moisturiser so that you can go to bed with fresh, perfectly moisturised, and well-cared-for skin. Taking good care of your skin remains the best secret to a healthy glow, and prolonging a sun-kissed tan!
